1. What Dotty offers

With Dotty you share moments where you are right now and see your friends’ moments on a map. This includes friendships, comments, reactions, chats, streaks and leaderboards.

Dotty is free. We keep developing the app; features may change, be added or be removed. There is no entitlement to specific features or constant availability.

2. Account

• You must be at least 16 years old.
• While Dotty is invite-only, you need a valid invite code.
• One account per person is allowed. Your username must not infringe the rights of others or misrepresent your identity.
• Keep your device and your sign-in secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.

3. Your content

Your photos, texts and messages belong to you. So that we can run Dotty, you grant us a simple, free, worldwide right to store your content, adapt it technically (e.g. resize it) and show it to the people you share it with. This right ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies others have already passed on through the share menu.

You confirm that you hold the necessary rights to your content and that recognizable people in your photos agree to their publication.

4. What is not allowed

• illegal, insulting, threatening, discriminatory, violence-glorifying or sexual content, in particular any depiction of minors in this context
• harassment, bullying, stalking or tracking others by their location
• photos of people against their will and publishing other people’s private data
• spam, advertising without our consent and fake accounts
• faking your location (e.g. GPS spoofing), made-up or misleading places, manipulating points, streaks or leaderboards
• attacks on Dotty, automated access (bots, scraping) or circumventing security measures

5. Reports and moderation

You can report moments via “•••” → “Report moment”. We review reports and may remove content, restrict features or suspend accounts temporarily or permanently if these terms or applicable law are violated. We take your legitimate interests into account; if we suspend an account, we tell you the reason where possible.

6. Points, streaks and leaderboards

Points, streaks and titles are a game. They have no monetary value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and we may adjust the rules. The leaderboard restarts every Monday.

7. Ending use

You can stop using Dotty at any time by deleting your account in the settings. We may end your use with reasonable notice, or suspend it immediately in case of serious violations.

8. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable for breaching essential obligations whose fulfilment makes using Dotty possible in the first place, limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. Otherwise, liability is excluded.

Mind your surroundings and traffic when taking photos, and don’t enter places you’re not allowed to enter.

9. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms if there is a valid reason (e.g. new features or a change in the law). We will inform you about changes in good time in the app. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.

10. Final provisions

German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection rules of the country you live in remain unaffected. If any provision is invalid, the others remain in force.

We do not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board and are not obliged to do so.
